Harris Farm sells them in tins. Your healthfood/wholefood store will have them, usually dried or tinned. Sometimes they are called Turtle Beans.

What are you going to make? I made a spicy black bean and corn soup once. Very yummy.

    Thanks Aussiegirl.

I want to use them generally (with rice, etc) but I specifically am thinking Mexican.

You could also use red kidney beans. That's what I make magic bean chocolate cake with.... When I ate sugar

Yeah - there really is no substitute for the taste of Black Beans. I wish they were more commonly available.

Thanks Olive! I will do that!!

I agree Aussiegirl. I dont understand why they aren't more freely available here. They would be highly palatable to the Australian market

I can't believe I have so much to 'say' on black beans (I sound like some kind of freak) but do you know that every week I do my groceries in Woolies and I get to the tinned bean section and I always, always stop and scan every can of beans - just in case this is the week that they have decided to stock them. lol.

Try the La Costena Mexican sauces from Fireworks food. It's seriously addictive.
