    Let's talk about milk baby.......

    Showing my age again.

Anyhooooo was chatting with DH and we realised the other day that all milk is not created equal. Always just assumed that it milk was milk and then he came across a list of the 7 worst foods you can buy at the supermarket and milk was one.

Soo just wondering what milk you buy, recommend? I don't think we want to go down the almond/soy/rice path, just good old fashioned milk from a cow! Have been buying Permeate free Pura light start, as well as the Pauls organic permeate free but not sure what else we should be looking for and how we know whether it is antibiotic, chemical free.

    TIA

The permeate free thing is marketing gimmick unfortunately. Permeate has been in milk for ages and does no harm.

We buy the bd Paris creek organic milk. It's pasturised not homogenized. I think it tastes so much better and they are certified organic

I try to always buy the BD paris creek milk, or the fleurieu milk (same kinda thing but not sure if its organic or not) the taste is uncomparable to any other supermarket brand milk and even has the cream on top , nom, nom

DH is seriously looking into getting us raw milk since pasteurising and homogonising apparently gets rid a lot of the goodness in commercial milk. He's doing a lot of reading on it at the moment.

I buy Pauls regular whole milk. Not so fussy about the brand, just habit I guess.

Full fat dairy is so much better for reproductive health.

I don't care about brand either, more the fact that there is stuff in there like antibiotics etc. Might need to do a bit more reading.

I'm pretty sure the bd farm stuff is antibiotic free and they have more ethical cow treatment too. Some natural organic shops sell cleopatras bath milk which might be worth looking into...

Bd Paris is in the supermarket. For the cleopatra's bath milk I would ring an organically shop and ask if they stock it. They ant technically sell raw cows milk but they can sell it as "bath" milk. Do you live in SA? I can pm you some places.

You can buy the bath milk in Melbourne, there are places that deliver it with organic veg etc, look online and you will find it.

I started this thread a while ago about raw milk. It might give you some interesting reading!

I'd love to be able to get it but living in the sticks I can barely get fresh fruit to eat let alone raw milk!
