    The virtual lapband?

I just saw an ad for hypnosis that makes your mind believe its had lapband surgery thus thinking the stomach is smaller and can't digest as much so as a result you eat less and lose weight.

My DH was a chain smoker when we met and he did hypnosis to stop smoking and hasn't smoked since...its been 5 years now. On the otherhand i know people where hypnosis has been a total flop.

Anyone done this/ knows about it? Thoughts? Experiences?

My mum had hypnosis for weight loss, it didn't work.

My mum has a friend who got this done in October last year and has lost over 40kgs since then without doing anything. She said its strange because she's always tried to lose weight and failed but now she's just not eating as much and the weight is just falling off without much effort at all.

I'm not sure I believe that hypnosis works all that well - if the personal desire to reach the goal is strong enough then maybe it gives people just the little push they need.

Kind of like a placebo effect hey?

I kind of the maybe there is some validity in hypnosis as i do firmly believe in 'mind over matter'.

Thanks for your replies although i am surprised more people don't have any experiences to share with this.

I have a similar story to you Delphmoon. DH had smoked for 10 years and gave up a couple of time with work sponsored patches etc. But he never really wanted to.
Then he decided he wanted to but needed help so he did hypnosis, and he hasn't smoked since ('cept recently taking up cigars a couple of time a month - yuck).
The hypnosis seemed to be the push he needed just to help in the first few days and weeks.
