    centrelink question

This is the first year (I think) that we have received any FTB. The 2011-2012 financial year we over estimated our income by about $20k. We did this on purpose. Do I need to do anything now that I have my group certificate? Do I need to tell centrelink somehow? Fill out a form so I get the extra we were entitled to? So confused . Or do they just "know" and do it automatically?

Once you and DH have done your tax returns, give it a few days and call them to tell them you have both done your tax returns (or if either of you don't have to lodge a return tell them you/DH are a non lodger)
They will ask a few questions then process it for you.

We didn't even have to do that. We just lodged our returns and it appeared in our accounts few weeks later. We were receiving a small fortnightly amount though.

don't call unless you've BOTH had notice of assessment at least 4 weeks - there is absolutely diddly squat that phone staff can do until you've had your NOA that long - so you'll waste time on the phone for nothing!
