I understand. I have adenomyosis, which is endo's more painful cousin
I'd be questioning why they are giving you phenergan??? It is an antihistamine! Try mersyndol and panadeine forte.
I have just been to the Gp and got a script for Endone (synthetic morph) as the pain is getting unbearable mid cycle and when im bleeding ...and from a hx of 6-8 week cycles now they are nearly spot on 4 weeks...
16 days ago i was bleeding in bed with cramps like early labour and i was doped on Tramal Nurofen and Phenergan for the pain and i was still in agony . I actually was thinking i needed my gas and a peth shot as it was so similiar to the early labour pains before the pushing stage...
And another thing im dont know whether a D&C (to see if that helps the heavy flows) and tubal ligation is the go or a total hysterectomy any thoughts?

Sorry to hear you're in so much pain. I've never asked for any prescription painkillers for my endo pain (figured I'd be turned away after all the Drs telling me it was "normal"), so I've never tried any of those. I did try panadeine forte once because I had some left over from a prescription, but it didn't help. I hope the endone brings you some relief.
As for your other options, they sound like choices that should be carefully and thoroughly discussed with your Dr. I'd probably even want a second opinion before proceeding with the hysterectomy just to make doubly sure since it's such a drastic measure. I know it's where a lot of endo women end up though.
Endone is pretty major stuff... How long are they expecting you to use it for?
only only when the pain is severe like it was the other weeks .... i use tramal usually with nurofen. Hense why i asked if a hysterectomy would be an option as i have never asked for anything stronger than tramal before...
Endone can have horrible side effects, my nan had hallucinations on it, I get sleepy and nauseous and can't function so just be careful if you do end up needing to take it.
thanks girls i have had it before i slipped and fell at work (emergency department) and suffered severe pelvic contusions (bruising) i had it then and it worked a treat and i was ok on it ....
The tramal was really working it was just knocking me out but the pain was still there few weeks back so hense why i thought i would try the endone just to get on top of the pain then follow up with just panadol and nurofen.
The gp agreed and said give it a go....
It could be worth considering a laproscopy too?
I had a hysterscopy and laproscopy last year for my endo. I then went on Zoladex for a few months. If you're not TTC at the moment then they might be options woth discussin with your dr.
yes i havent had a d & c laproscopy or any of those procedures since before i conceived my ds who is 4 ...
and when i had that done back in 2006/2007 i felt like a new women .... so it may be what i need.
Thanks ladies![]()
I had a d&c in January and have had a rapid escalation in symptoms since that (it was for a mm/c and I had been symptom-free before the BFP), so I'm having my second lap tomorrow (first one was 2 years ago) and hoping it will make a difference.
If you haven't had one in 5 years and your symptoms are as bad as you describe a lap sounds like a good first step.
I hear that you are experiencing very strong and debilitating pain, but I'm not convinced that just prescribing ever-stronger pain meds is the right way to go with this. Has your GP discussed trying any hormonal treatments? Have they discussed your surgical/ablation options? Honestly, fair enough to take the strong pain meds if you need them (and I don't doubt that you do), but with the high level of pain you're experiencing you're better off asking for a referral to a gyno who is known to specialise with endo treatment, and get along to find out what other treatments might help you at this point in time.
Endone is a very high-end pain medication (as is tramadol for that matter). If you're needing to use these frequently, there's a chance of addiction, as well as rebound-pain when you're not taking it. Has your dr discussed using a combination of other pain relief meds, sometimes several of the lower-end ones (ie combined with a good anti-inflammatory) together can be more effective than a heavy-hitter. Fair enough if you really need the pain coverage right now, but I'm worried that this is not an appropriate long-term option, kwim?
I definitely think a lap and removal of endo is needed again. I have always used Mersyndol night strength and found it helped to varying degrees. Good luck with the endone. Debilitating AF pain is horrible.
I take endone as needed for my fibromyalgia - different thing, I know but I have experience in high end pain killers..
If you do end up taking it, take panadole Osteo and nurofen with it - it helps it to function better and you get better effects.
I take panadole osteo and nurofen together regardless of what else I take 3 times a day.
Endone is a great painkiller obviously but it is highly addictive so be careful.
I agree with the others that you need to see a Gyno because while my GP isn't a Gyno she has put me on a new medication that lessons how much a bleed, cramp, pain etc... I think there will be better alternatives for you...
Thank you girls for all the replies and opinions and options
First of all : im so aware of the endone addiction factor so as i said there in the cupboard when i absolutely need them.
Second : the dx of chocolate cysts on my left ovary is the only sign of endo from the two laps i have had and the latest being 6 yr ago..
Third : yesterday when i went to my gp/ certified ob i asked for a referal to DR Lutjen OB/ Gynae specialist who dx in the first place way back in 2006...
I hate taking any medicine actually but when panadol nurofen dont do a thing and then when Tramal doesnt touch it i know i need the heavy hitter endone... Im allergic to codeine so i cant take Panadein or P/forte or mysendyl ...hense why i have to go for the alternatives.
The pain is weird as right now i can feel it up above my belly button and it feels like needles being scraped but only just... then when it gets worse it hits my lower back and low pelvis and then when constantly there it all above and down my legs. Sometime like yesterday i get out of the blue a contraction type cramp.. this is all before i bleed... oh what fun NOT.
I have only had a nurofen today which is ok as i can cope with it ... then again im use to living with it ...
I'm glad you are going to get it looked at again - you can't live like this...
It sounds awful and I can imagine what toll it's taking on you...
Are you taking any vitamins, supplements, etc?
So glad you've got a referral back to your specialist, hopefully they can get to the bottom of the problem for you. I hope the end one gives you good pain coverage in the meantime.![]()
Yes i havent been this bad for a few years thank god... i have had two babies since the last lap and only now the cycles are getting closer or actually a normal 28 day cycle so it feels like im constantly having the niggling pain....
Before i met my (ex) DH in 2007 i was on Nurofen paracetamol when pain (and the odd peth shot ) was bad and everyday Vit B complex and Evening Primrose then i fell pregnant with DS 2 2008 and pregnant DS3 2009 and since then all Endo symptoms have taken a back seat ...
Its weird im divorced and have 3 kids 12 4 and 2 (in october) and i should be saying just take everything out but i cant seem to convince myself of that.... so i think a D&C and a good clean out and look and see procudere is the best option ....
Oh and i cant take endone or tramal all day obviously as i do need to function and when the period is here and it is bad i get the kids father(s) to have them so i can bomb myself out and hybernate with heat pack for a few days ....
When im having a bad cycle im very irritable does that happen with others too?
