    LPG hot water, anyone?

Just wondering if anyone here runs LPG hot water? We're considering changing over to LPG and would like to know how much it costs to run.

We have instantaneous hot water.... Love it! :-) We go through a bottle in about 12-14weeks (2 of us, three showers a day plus the pets are bathed weekly or more (2-3 bathtubs a week) plus washing up etc. We pay $120 for a big bottle. Found it reduced our power bill more than what we pay for the gas.

What size is your bottle Caz? We were looking at the 90kg one that they come and fill. I think I'd rather have the massive one though but have nowhere to put it.

We have gas hot water system and really happy with it. No idea how much it costs to run as we have town gas. Would be interesting to find out - wonder how I could.

Ours is 45kg.... that is all that will fit in our holder, 90kg would last ages! Especially if you have a service that fills rather than swaps the bottle, you won't run out so it doesn't matter what size it is :-) you have to have no obstructions or power sources within 3metres for the fill service and we are on a small block so we can't have it :-(

We had a big bottle that they came out to fill and it was $50 a quarter rental 2 or 3 years ago.

our house in now all electric but a few people around here do use bottled gas just for water. even better if you can aquire your own bottle.

I don't mind paying rental, it means they have to fix it or replace it if there's a problem.

We're getting gas hot water installed today. I hope it doesn't cost me too much.

I have instant gas too. I love it coz it only heats AS you use it. No heating at a certain time to only be half used.
I pay $140 for a bottle (tall skinny one, I think 90kg, but not 100%) about every 8 weeks. 4 kids & me, 2 little ones can have 2 showers a day for 20 minutes - half hour each My stove/oven is also on gas.

Ok, my last power bill over East, with hot water on off peak 2 was I think about $700 - 800.
My last power bill here was $186. Add to that the 1.5 gas bottles for the quater & thats just under $400. Not being careful, cooking for work (so gas stove running a few hours a day). & with my R/C heater going overnight for about half the last quater.

I think that works out pretty ok
