    Unhappy Stopping the cough.

Poor DD has been struck down by the cold and cough thats going around. She is over the cold but the cough is just lingering.
She basically cant sleep as she just coughs so much that she makes herself sick.

Iv tried everythng that I can think of!
Vicks on back & chest & soles of feet with socks.
    Childrens cough mix
    Panadol / nurofen
heater in bedroom (not a fan heater) off and on
Vaporiser off and on, all to no avail!

She has been to the Drs on Monday and he just said a virus and to ride it out - no antib's or anything.
Does anyone have a sure fire cure? Poor DD needs sleep and so do we .... entering the 4th day of less that 2hrs sleep a night...

I find cough medicines pretty useless. If you think she will drink it you could try a bit of honey and lemon juice in warm water? I think it helped my DD when she had bronchitis. I made it up for her after dinner and she sipped on it until bed time. Or some just give a spoonful of honey before bed (make sure to brush teeth afterwards though!). Honey is supposed to be a natural cough suppressant.

Good luck, hope you all get some sleep soon

Can you arrange pillows so she is sitting up but can still rest to sleep? I have DS kinda sitting, kinda resting on my arm and he sleeps but he is bit younger than your dd.

I can try tonight but she is a lest less sleeper at the best of times and I'll often find her upside down or across the bed!
