I thought there was a thread about this somewhere but honestly i searched through 5 pages and couldn't see it (sorry mods if there is one already)
I know there are quite a few around these days so i was wondering if anyone knows of a great place to do photo books.
Anyone got great quality and prices or specials on at the moment?
I have previously used the Big W Online - are they still any good?
BG - hun i know your a wealth of knowledge on this for me.
I am wanting to make 1 for each of the girls, possibly for x-mas.
DD1 has one from her first Christmas and then another that was done until she was 6mths old.
DD2 doesn't have one at all.
I am looking at doing basically our favorite photo's from baby through til now - all their little adventures, birthday's & their friends etc.
i create layouts in creative memories software i was given (but you can use photoshop or gimp or anything you like really - or the ones provided by the place you're goign to print)
i print via snapfish as i like their leather bound books - i just wait til they have a buy one get one free option or 40% off - otherwise it's quite exxy.
you can get cheaper options through big w - i've never had a drama with their soft cover books which i use for gifts, but i haven't tried their hard cover books
you can sign up with artscow online - and generally you get free photo books when you sign up - but by the time you factor in postage from the US, it's not that much cheaper
for best quality you'd be looking at the likes momento or creative memories. both can be very exxy if you want more than 10 pages though
you have to find whichever one "fits" you - as i said, i use snap fish with the leather bound books because i like that they look more professional (plain outer, rather than print), and if you subscribe to their emails, you can choose to print when they have a deal. i generally upload projects and print when the time is right. you can add more pages without totally blowing the budget (when they have 40% off, i get a 75 page book for the same price as a standard 20 page so i'm happy with that)
i use snapfish and was really happy with them up until last christnas. i ordered 6 desktop calendars (all the same pics) and 3 of them were correct, the other 3 started out with my photos and from around july were some random person s photos! each calendar was different, so i have 3 random people s pics and i guess they have mine. they reprinted them but i had to wait abit.
Memento have awesome quality. It depends on what you want to pay because they are not cheap!.
Creative Memories are very good (also not cheap). You need to buy their software but it is easy to use and you can save you project as you work and not be connected to the Internet.
Not a fan of snapfish quality but it does have a good price point.
Blurb is US based and cheaper but have never used them but have heard good things about the quality.
I have also used Harvey Norman. Quality was okayish but their internet based software was a nightmare to use.
Warning, digital scrapbooking and photobook making can become addictive
Also if you use Photoshop or Gimp or any other software, you need to watch the bleed. Leave enough room around the edges so important details are chopped off when the page is printed.
Yep, I second this. Have used BigW and snapfish, but Blurb offer more layouts and I really liked the quality. Got one for DD1 last year of all her artwork for the year.
