Question Paid Parental Leave and returning to work?

I am currently on maternity leave and receiving my 18 weeks PPL. I claimed my work entitlement for 28 weeks (half pay) first, so I've been off work for 8 months. (so longer than 18 weeks the ppl is for) My boss called to ask if I was interested in doing a few days work in October and it coincides with DS2 starting his orientation to daycare....but can I work if I'm receiving PPL? If I'd claimed it as soon as he was born (I could have claimed it concurrently with my work mat leave) it would be done by now iykwim? It is only 4 casual days and I receive no other CL payments... (is it wrong to ask how would they know?)

Technically no u can not be receiving an income from while u are on ppl - I think there is Something in the rules that entitles u to do a few days during the ppl for training type work? But as far as I read it as soon as u returned to work it was void and finished.

And I would assume they would know cuz ur work would have to pay u? If ur work wasn't goig to pay u then no it wouldn't matter

it's not based on 18 weeks post birth, it's the 18 week period for which you are paid your PPL - and no, you can't return to work in that time
you can have "in touch" days, which are for training etc as mentioned, but to actually go back to work, no, you would cease to be eligible for the balance of your PPL from the first day you went back to work

if you were having training days, you would likely be asked for proof that it was necessary training to keep your job

Are you planning in going back to work once your PPL has ended?

If so, would it be possible to do the days with time off in lieu to cover the hours worked once you're back properly? Or is that against centrelink rules?

I'm a teacher, so no time in lieu. Thanks for the idea though

ANY work is against the ppl rules (unless covered under the catch up days as previously mentioned). Building time in oieue is still working and would mean them end of the ppl payment
