    Fantastic treatment for colds

My parents were chatting to the lady who lives down the road, who is a doctor with the RFDS. Mum mentioned that Misses A and E have terrible colds and Dr K said to bathe their feet (or shower/bath) so they're warm and the pores open, then smother the soles with vicks (baby balsam for Miss A), then put cotton socks on their feet. I've done this with both of them since Wednesday night and the difference has been incredible. Apparently doing this can reduce the life of a cold by half.

Miss A wasn't able to feed or sleep at all before I started with the vicks. Wednesday night she was sleeping in four hour stretches and then last night slept for 12 hours straight with just one dream feed after 8 hours.

Poor E. Hope she's feeling better soon.

Sounds like there are lots of poor sick chooks at the moment. Hopefully lots of warm sunny days are just around the corner to kill the germs

Thanks for sharing Lulu, my little chook just had his feet done. It always helps him sleep better. I even put a smidge under his nose

Apparently garlic instead of the vicks is also effective. Haven't tried it myself yet though.

Perfect timing!! After a seriously horrible night last night, Squinkie has gone to bed with Vicks on her feet. She went to sleep quickly and easily and I could hear her breathing clearing up as she was feeding. Fingers crossed for a better night!

It's so great to hear Doctors recommending these treatments! The vick's or Eucalyptus on the feet works brilliantly for colds, and is especially good for reducing night time coughing. Garlic also works a treat, and you can smell garlic on your breath a few minutes after rubbing it on the soles of your feet. Pretty amazing!!
