I'm nervous and excited! My laparoscopy is finally booked for next Friday after waiting for about 5 months. Apparently the endo is pretty severe and I may have to have a bowel resection. I'm hoping the Zoladex treatment has paid off and helped reduce it...
Any tips for recovery?? I have had a lap done earlier in the year but it was diagnostic only so not quite as severe as this one. Apparently I'll be in hospital for a couple of days.
I'll be joining the IVF/ICSI discussions in no time!!
Hi Faye. I hope the lap goes well on Friday. I hope the bowel resection isn't necessary at this stage as that can make the recovery somewhat longer. I'm not looking forward to the day my Dr says it's time for me to do the bowel resection (he has said I'll have to do one at some stage, but not quite yet).
I have an entire page of recovery tips on my blog. You'll find a link to the blog in my signature and when you got the blog there's a link somewhere on the right called "Laparoscopy Checklist". I've used that list to prepare for both of my laps.
Just an update - I had my lap last Friday and a week on I'm feeling great! Came back to work yesterday (luckily I have a desk job). I was in hospital for 3 nights which I do feel was excessive but there wasn't much I could do about that. I was very lucky that I didn't need a bowel resection however they did say there was alot of "unsticking" to do! I had 5 incisions which are healing up nicely, I am still bleeding though which they said was normal. I have a post op appointment on the 9th October and will be starting my IVF journey the same day!
Good to hear you're feeling so good! I almost had to stay an extra night, but talked them out of it. I'm sure they wouldn't have kept you without a reason. I bled for about 2 weeks after mine.
