Shingles or not?? Seems I'm a strange case....

    So the story begins...
I had what I thought was pimples on the left side of my facethat were infected. 3 courses of abs and antiviral later, stills not cleared up and had to wait it out. That was about 2.5months.
Got same symptoms on the other side of my face about 3 wks ago, went to hossy and started the antiviral and it cleared up.

Today, have a spot on the left side again. Went to get it checked and dr says the swabs came back neg for shingles the first time. The fact that the second lot had all symptoms of shingles and responded makes us think the second one was shingles (I didn't wait for results at Hossy as I had left). The spot today has same aymptoms and has been swabbed.
Dr has said its unusual that someone would get it on both sides unless 2 nerves were affected. He has said he has no idea what it could be of results come back negative because it has all the symptoms, is responding to meds but test results are neg.

    I'm a strange case

That must be so confusing, and frustrating, to not know exactly what's going on. Are they doing anymore tests to see what it actually is?

big hugs. I hope you get some answers so you can treat it completely and you can get rid of it all together.

I've had outbreaks of coldsores (herpes simplex) in places other than my mouth/lips... The very first time I ever got it was on my cheek (about where people get dimples when they smile) and I thought it was pimples to start with... It wasn't until I later got a normal coldsore on my mouth that I recognised the first one for what it was. I occasionally get a reoccurrance on my cheek, and have had several episodes of a large patch on the back of my neck, and also on the skin between my top lip and my nose, in addition to the various spots around my mouth. (I sound like a real wreck now, don't I!) I've also had what was suspected to be an outbreak in my eye on one occasion, and have been warned to be careful not to let the infection spread to any broken skin (from eczema) on my hands.

Antiviral medications will help herpes simplex if started soon enough after an outbreak, and can reoccur in different places. Maybe this is what you have?

I second the coldsore idea, I have had them up on my top lip and in my nose, my nan gets them often on her face and not on her lip. Try some coldsore creams maybe and see if it clears up?

    feel better soon!
