Maybe just call them growing pains if the breast tissue thing would freak him out. It would've freaked out DS lol.
The big lad has some pain behind one nipple for the last week or so. I was googling about it and wasn't sure if he is getting gyneocomastia because there is no swelling. I can't feel anything under there besides ribJust wondering if I need to word him up about some boys developing breast tissue at puberty. He has Aspergers and I'm concerned he will freak out. As it is he is already freaking out because it hurts because he tends to over react to pain.
He is turning 11 in a few days so of the age where puberty is just around the corner.
Anyone care to share how their boy dealt with it and how long it lasted please![]()

I tried telling him that maybe a mosquito bit him but he argued that it wasn't possible because it's cold and he tucks his shirt in when it's cold![]()
Can you tell him that he won't get breasts (obviously) but that hormones at his age do all sorts of things to change his body and it is simply a part of that, he doesn't need details of what or why especially if you think he will freak out, just tell him it's a part of his normal development and that it should pass soon xoxo
I think that would be a good way to talk about it Tanstar. I've already had him ask me if I could see some hair on certain appendages(job for dad that one) so I'm sure he is aware of the changes that boys go through at this age.
When he was putting on his backpack to leave for school he must have knocked it because he said it still hurt. Then he held the strap off his chest so it wouldn't rub. Poor kid!
Could it be that things like his back pack or school logo on his tshirt is rubbing his nipple causing it to be sore???
It's a possibility but I don't think that the same bag and uniform would be causing a problem now. Nothing has changed since the start of the year!
If he has grown taller, it could be his nipple is in the right (wrong) position now so it rubs now whereas it didnt previously. I just thought as it's just one nipple, it could be an external irritant causing the problem???
We had an issue with nipple rubbing earlier in the year with DD. It as the logo on her school tshirt. I bought her a crop top and some singlets to wear under which helped.
The logo is printed so it's not that. I'll encourage him to carry his backpack with his hand and not over his shoulder next week and see if that helps, thanks![]()
