Heading to Adelaide at the end of Oct and we're looking for somewhere inexpensive but nice to stay in the CBD (or pretty close to). I'm hoping to find somewhere where there are two beds in the same room (so queen bed + additional bed in the same room) and hopefully has a kitchen/kitchenette.
Have a look at the Tynte St apartments, I haven't stayed there but have had friends say it was really nice it's about $150 a night? It's in North Adelaide slightly out of the CBD but I would guess less than 5kms
Not sure what the cost of the rooms are but we've stayed at the Sebel Playford on North Terrace which is really nice and very comfortable.
Another idea could be to look at wotif.com or lastminute.com.au. They both do mystery deals where they tell you where the hotel is located, star rating and the cost, but you don't know at the time what hotel you're booking. I know loads of people who have booked those deals all around the country and every time they have been AMAZING hotels.
My parents stayed at the Glenelg beachside apartments, it's a 20minute tram ride or 15 min taxi from the CBD but a more child friendly area. It's opposite the beach, minutes from jetty road (shopping/dining) and near an amusement type facility. The apartments had 2 bedrooms and a fully functional kitchen. I'm not sure on the price though.
So are you wanting a hotel or a motel? Stamford have a couple of hotels here, I haven't been there but my BIL used to work for them said they're not too bad.
Hilton is overpriced (I have been there),
My parents used to go to a place called Scotty's Motel on main north rd, 5 min drive from the CBD.
Do you have Frequent flyer or flybuys? They list several hotels and motels on their apps and websites. Or you can check webjet?
Novella - We considered Glenelg but we've stayed at West Beach for the last two years and are looking for something in the CBD for something a bit different.
Chrispe - I've got Frequent Flyer so will have a look at their list. I'm not too fussed whether it's a hotel or a motel, just looking for the one room for all of us to sleep in and clean!!!
We looked on wotif & lastminute as we were thinking of stating 1 night in
A hotel, it good cos you can narrow the search.
Sometimes if you call the hotel they match the price & don't have to pay til you get there
Have you got an Entertainment Book? Sometimes they have great rates, we've booked apartments in Melb CBD (the Oaks chain) twice through them, they have interstate connections too. Worth a look if you have a book!
Otherwise I'd second the wotif and lastminute recommendation!
The hotel itself may be nice but I personally wouldn't stay on Hindley St. Its where all the bars and clubs are so very busy and very noisy on a weekend.
Also, any idea on what's going on in Adelaide over the weekend of 27/28 Oct? So many places are booked out!! I can't see if there's an event planned in my google searches.
Jon ibises to stay at directors suites on gouger when I travelled for uni. Just make sure you ask to be in the main tower away from the pub. Had microwave an fridge etc.
