    Bone broth!

I have recently discovered the high nutritional value of bone broth and made my first one the other night with a chicken carcass. It turned out fantastic, nice and jelly like I spike DS's veges with it and he loves it!

How do you make your bone broth, and what are other bones I can use to make different broths?

I mostly use chicken, as we grow our own chooks and we get the odd rooster that needs using. I also gather what veg I can from the veggie patch. Homegrown celery packs a lot of flavour.

Will try some apple cider vinegar in my next lot, just read about it benefits for extracting the calcium from the bones.

I'm using chicken with water, leek, corn, carrots, garlic and celery. I'm adding a bit of vinegar too as it is supposed to extract more goodness from the bones. I'm using it with DD's vegies - she wolfs it down.

Yeah I added vinegar BUT I only had white. I only put a drop in and it tastes ok, but it smelled awful while cooking! You just remended me to add apple cider to shopping list!

ETA: How do you do it? I used a slow cooker and did about 12 hours..

I just simmer in a big stock pot on the stove for 4 or so hours. I always make a big batch when I do and our multicooker is just not big enough, especially when we are using 2 carcasses.

I used the slow cooker too - mine will hold 2 carcasses and I just leave it overnight
