Please recommend me a hotel on the Gold Coast

    Hi all-

We're planning a trip to the GC, kind of spur of the moment

I find it really hard to book quality hotels online- so would love a recommendation please.

    It has to be:
    Family friendly
Have a swimming pool or 2
Central to the main strip (Cavill avenue?)
Easy to get to the theme parks- we're not planning to hire a car.

My neighbors stayed at Chevron towers and loved it, so any information on that would be good too

Paradise resort, it's very family friendly they have a couple of pools and also wet play areas with slides they also have free 4 hour child minding with qualified staff. We loved staying there, only downside was no kitchen in the room so food is expensive.

    WOW!!!
    That looks awesome!

Nothing on the website about a courtesy bus- is it easy to get from there to sea world/movie world?

Is the inside of the room nice?

Would 2.5 yo DD get much out of it? Or is she to young?

Mantra have some great places up there, one in particular has an awesome pirate ship themed swimming pool. That one is right in the heart of everything.

Dd2 was 2.5 and is still talking about it a year later! They do have shuttles to the parks it's arranged and the desk at the hotel.

DS loved it Em and he was not quite 2. I was going to suggest Paradise as well - DH said next time we go he'd like to stay there, if we don't do the resort again.

    Okay, awesome!

Thanks girls- they do a kids club there?!?
I can have a coffee or work out! Yay

The transfers seem quite pricey- $42 for movie world, $86.00 for the airport etc
    Is that quite normal pricing?

Havent been to GC for 6 years but we bought a bus pass thing that lasted so many days and was used to airport to hotel and back again and to theme parks when you wanted you just rang night before and booked for what park you wanted and what hotel you were at at they picked up up and dropped you back. Could also use it on ANY bus to anywhere. Was good value.

GC isn't that far north really... If you want nice and warm you've gotta get above Brissy, like Sunshine Coast or Cairns. Theme parks are in GC though... But it's worth considering, if you want some heat.

We looked as buses for Sea World - there's a public bus I'm sure that goes somewhere near there. Maybe check that out??

Dream World and Movie World are a fair distance from GC, like over half an hour, so it makes sense that the transfer would be more expensive to there. You could prob hire a car for that one day for less??

We've stayed at Paradise Resort too, was about 5-6 years ago and agreed great for kids. When I went the rooms were a little dated but that was a while ago. I'd recommend it with kids though.
