    Canning/Bottling Supplies (Australian stockists)

Getting my canning groove on, and just wondering if anyone has found any good prices for Mason jars before I buy these ones I have found...

I am getting a kit to begin with, $116 from Redback Trading online, and their prices for more jars seems pretty good. Had a look at Oz Farmer too and another one I can't remember the name of.

Anyway, they have the 500ml jars for $30/doz, has anyone found them cheaper anywhere?

    Cheers!

you could try ebay? have you also looked at the Fowlers vacola jars? I use them and they are pretty good. You can also just use old pasta sauce jars too - they do just as good a job as the fowlers/mason jars. I use them more than the flowers jars.

I haven't done any in ages! Just haven't had the abundance of fruit and vege like we've had in the past. But looking at the way the apricot tree has fruited we are going to have loads of apricots this year. And broad beans - going to have tonnes of broad beans too.

I'll freeze them so I can use them like store-bought frozen vege. they are just blanched and then frozen. So not canning as such, but just preserving.

Check out op shops for bottles. Also volunteering around old ladies is a good way to score unused bottles as well Have you thought about joining your local CWA?

Just a tip with bottling, get a friend or 3 around, plus small children to harvest. Best way to get a lot of bottling done in one session.
