Just wondering who here wears them. Starting to consider getting a half slip for myself these days, a lot of the dresses I am coming across these days really do need something underneath them. Either that or I am getting old
I tend to buy skirts and dresses with the slip already in them - that way I don't have to buy extras, risk having them too long, can't find the right one for the skirt in the morning... I have worn slips and petticoats before making this rule and it can be a bit of a nightmare.
Some of my skirts need a slip under them, and I don't wear the skirts, because I don't have a slip. Dunno why, I think I always foget to look what I need when I'm going shopping. Maybe I'm getting old too!
I've always worn them. They stop fabric riding up, especially in winter when some fabrics ride up over tights, and a nude slip, cami or skirt hides the imprint of underwear if you are wearing a translucent, white or thin item of clothing. I also wear camisoles to keep my clothes fresh for longer as then they have less direct contact with the skin.
I have a half slip for see through dresses/skirts. I feel embarassed (for the wearer) when you can see straight through things - especially in the sunlight.
I'm old but desperately clinging to the last vestiges of my youth... I like to wear a G banger (preferably sparkly and hot pink), pulled high on my hips with my itty bitty too tight hipster pants scraped up to just above my bum crack. The muffin top in the middle just draws attention to my chic choice of under drawers... Ain't no room in there for a petticoat.
And I have some itchy wool skirts - far better to be old (even in my late teens and early twenties, when I started wearing slips and petticoats!) than to end up with a rash on your waist.
