    Rude doctor - grrr!

My BD (11 months) had caught the gastro bug. I was worried she was dehydrating as she wasn't keeping milk, water or any food down. It was horrible. I called my doctor and the emergency room several times and was told to wait it out. By the end of the third day we took her straight into ER. We waited for 4 hrs and my daughter threw up several times - nothing in her stomach, more like dry-reaching. We finally got to see a doctor and I told him the situation and that we were concerned about dehydration.

His comment: She could do to lose a couple of kilo's. I wouldn't be worried about weightloss. I'd be more focused on obesity.

Then he laughed. We were so worried about BD that we didn't really think about what he said. Our daughter is just under 10kg at 11 months and is quite tall. Definitely has gorgeous chubby cheeks. I just thought it was inappropriate - especially under the circumstances.

Definitely complain! Disgusting comment very unprofessional!! I don't think 10kg at 11 months is overweight DS3 was about the same if not a little more at the same age, what an idiot, I hope the actual medical advice he gave you after was accurate because clearly he has no idea about obesity. Hope she's feeling better xx

Yes - BD is much better. She was sick for a full week. The doctor thought he was hilarious but DH said he noticed a nurse roll her eyes at him. DH did complain about him later.

=O that is disgusting. complain. seriously, that is unprofessional and disgusting. put in an offical complaint. If i was that nurse I would be doing more than rolling my eyes at him, I would be calling him out on it, yes, just as unprofessional in front of a patient.

im glad your little one is better

Omg! Not only unprofessional comment, but he could get someone killed with advice like that. You did the right thing taking her into the ER, any child vomiting for over 48hrs is supposed to be given IV fluids! (my SIL is a Paediatric nurse and I'm studying to be one)

Each of my toddlers have been 12kg and over at 12months, it's perfectly normal.

Please do report him before he causes someone else damage.
