While I was pg with DS2, the cysts were gone and I had no worsening PCOS symptoms. He is now 13.5mo and I have large amounts of cysts on both ovaries again, my period has gone completely haywire (was 19day cycles, 3days of which were flow, monthy on the mirena) and I hadn't had TTOM in 3.5months and now 've been bleeding for over a week, my upper lip hair has gotten longer and darker and I am growing long chin hair! Sooooooo groooossssssssss! I am also having huge amounts of trouble losing weight even with sticking to my diet really well and excercising. I don't mind being fat but this is just rediculous. I'm trying to pretend it doen't bother me but I need to lose some but nothing is budging at all. I do not want to be this big and I do not want chin hair or a damn mostache. Does anyone know why it could be getting so much worse now or how to help? Other than diet and excercise as I know everything I need to do in regards to that.
Last time I got my thyroid tested was 10 months ago and it was completely fine. I get tested every 2 years for hypothyroidism, diabetes, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol and I can't remember what else.
I wish I could give you a better answer, but I'll give you the infuriating one I was given: sometimes the hormones just go a bit crazy and it just happens. Mine does that too (when not pregnant). I actually found Vitex and EPO helped to even things out (even if you aren't TTC, it just helps to even things out). Maybe do some research into those two supplements and see if that is something that you think might be right for you?
Firstly I am in the same boat. My saving grace with the excessive hair is I'm blonde. The two things I hate about it is not loosing weight & the acne. I train 4 times a week with a personal trainer, eat well & walk or run on the other days.
With regards to it just showing up again it maybe that your body has flushed out all the pregnancy hormones or gotten used to the mirena. They say it takes 12months for your body to return to normal after pregnancy. For me it was 12 months AF came back then. I had immense ovulation pain when she did & was extremely tired plus family history of ovarian cancer. I went & had a scan. I was just ovulating thank goodness. My cysts hadn't gotten any worse there was as many as previously counted.
I'm sorry you are going through this. It is awful when you just don't feel confident with how you look.
I have monthly facial peels to help with the acne. This month is the worse after a peel for a while. A week later the pimples are not as red as they had been this time. The lady I see suggested waxing my top lip, but being blonde it's only me that notices. The hairs under my chin are starting to get longer & the odd dark one I pluck.
Sorry not exactly an answer but I do understand how you are feeling.
Do you take diabex? This helps with the weight loss & also the insulin level relieving some of the symptoms. I still take this even though I am not TTC.
I am not TTC either. I have PCOS and have just seen my gyn last friday about worseing PCOS symptoms. I am having more bloodtests and another ultrasound done just to check things again as my GP was concerned about premature menopause. After I get these results back and if it is just PCOS and not menopause (I'm 29) then he said I need to go on the pill to try and control my hormones. I will be taking Diane (well the cheap version of it). Once my hormones have evened out again with the pill, this should make it easier to lose the weight, which isn't helping things either. I have been going to the gym at least 5 times a week, walking every morning and eating really well and it is incredibly frustrating when nothing or very little changes. As for the hair, I have been getting laser on my upper lip as I was having to get it waxed every 10-14 days and my skin was not coping. It sound like the mirena may not be giving you enough hormones s I would see your GP and maybe get a referral to a specialist.
I went and seen my GP yesterday and am getting a blood test on Monday to check my hormones, bsl and cholesterol and then we will talk about going on metforim (dunno how to spell that lol). I've lost 200g through diet and exercise which isn't actually losing anything as it is normal weight fluctuation and so we spoke about going back on duromine as well but IDK about that as it is really expensive and I'm still giving Tman the occasional breastfeed. I'm starting to pluck my chin hair but thinking of IPL for unwanted hair, including my "snail trail" which is getting worse black hairs than during pregnancy.
