    Anyone done this?

Mil wants to buy a year for ds to do modeling for ads and catalogue and stuff

Just wondering how much going out you need to do and how much time it takes up etc....

Personally I wouldn't.. Your son is about 10 months?

To me, I wouldn't put my child in any competition, and this is too close in my mind..

Besides the possibility of being in some adds, catalogues etc, what do you and your child get from it? I would consider putting the money into a private photo shoot to get some 'staged' photos without the exposure of my child..

From friends who have tried this, they paid the money and got NO work. I think it's a scam!

A reputable agency will not charge you a joining fee. They will interview you and take on your DS if they think they will be able to find work for him. The cost of the initial portfolio photos will be recovered in the commission they take from the payment you will receive when your DS gets work. I would be exceptionally wary of an agency who charges you a joining fee, there are a million scam agencies who will take your money, snap a few photos and you will never hear from them again.

The only people I've ever known who have actually had their children model were approached on the street by talent scouts.

Every single person I've known who have approached an agency and paid money have had no work.

    Don't do it.

I'd also be dubious about letting your MIL (who is manipulative and plain weird) spend money on your son in that way, could be turned back on you later.

If you want to put him in do it dont let your mil do it....my son has done photo shoots for a magazine and cushie tushies. We didnt go to an agency, he was in a fb comp a looong time ago way before fb is what it is now and the photographer fell in love with him so asked him to be in some. We got no payment for the mag but for CT we got nappies...we did it cause its fun nothing more
