Question about Carer's payment and Parenting Payment Partnered.

I currently get Carer's payment partnered and carer's allowance (+FTB) while DH is on Youth Allowance. DH's course finishes a few days after DS2 will be born. Once his course finishes, DH will have to change payments. He can go back on Newstart (looking for 14 jobs a fortnight and doing courses/ working with a job provider to look for work) which we don't mind but I'm worried how I will cope with DS1's appointments, the DDs and a NB all after a CS. We were wondering if DH can claim parenting payment partnered for DS2 whilst I claim carer's. He would still be looking for work but without having to do all the extra things and could be more help to me until I'm back on my feet and have a routine figured out.

Does anyone know if that's an option?

Who are you caring for to get your carer's payment? If it's not all of your children, then I imagine that your DH could get parenting payment.
A few years ago I was on parenting payment partnered and DH was on disability support, so I am thinking that if you're on carer's payment, the principle may be the same, but I am not sure...

yes - your DH can claim Parenting Payment Partnered for your newborn while you are receiving Carers Payment for your older child

I don't think so, but I have no idea. I think only one parent can recieve a type of family payment & since its carers or parenting, i don't think they'd pay both to one family. I really do have no idea though.
    Does that make any sense?

Carer Payment isn't a 'family' payment - it's a pension paid to full time carers of someone who is ill or has a disability

Sorry, I know what its for, I recieve carers as well. But I thought coz you lose one to recieve the other it may not work that way.

As I said, I have no idea

there doesn't need to be any change to the FTB at all
Carer payment will be paid for DS1 - as long as DH claims primary carer status for one of the other kidlets, you can be paid the ppp for him and carers for you, plus ftb (leave that one in whatever name it's in - don't mess with the ftb at all!)

Sure - I was just explaining why the OP receiving carers didn't preclude her DH from receiving PP

Yeah FTB comes to me and the difference between PPP and Newstart is like $3 so I figured it would be doable. It also means DH can be more realistic with his work choices (what will be doable with the kids etc). DH will be happy too, he's been stressing about how he could help with the kids, bond with DS2 and go to all the appointments/ interviews for jobs he has no qualifications for but they make you do

yeah, we put DH on PPP rather than Newstart when i went back to work, for similar reasons. his eyesight and dyslexia with total lack of computer skills means a lot is just out of the question, but he would have had to look for x number of jobs per fn while i built up my hours again - it just wasn't worth the stress.
