Definitely keep breastfeeding as well - both are good. Breastmilk contains probiotics (as well as lots of other goodies) and its great for upset tummies.
DS2 has gastrohe's 18 months old.
He's keeping down water but every time he breast feeds he brings it straight back up.
Would you continue with breast feeding even if it's making him sick or just keep offering water?
Definitely keep breastfeeding as well - both are good. Breastmilk contains probiotics (as well as lots of other goodies) and its great for upset tummies.

I just tried to give regular, small feeds. Most would come back up at first, but at least a little stayed down and I knew I was giving her the best chance of hydration and getting the good stuff from BM.
Have you got any gastrolyte? That will help too - littlies love ice blocks.

Poor thing! How are you coping. It's rough when they're very sick.
It's definitely worth getting the milk into him - he'll get value from it even with a quick 'turnaround' time.
Adelaide must be the gastro city at the moment! DS2 hasn't been able to keep anything down all day. Was told if it keeps up to give Hydrolyte.
Definitely gastro city, most of our family has had it in the last couple of weeks. Hydralite or gastrolite is good as well as water and bm, even if its only a little bit staying down will help too.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
MadB, I'm doing ok thanks so much for asking
DS2 is better not throwing up anymore but still has a high fever and generally not himself. Lots of love and boobie should get him through xxx
I agree with what everyone else has suggested but when DS had gastro for a week and nothing stayed down the dr said we could give red cordial. It's a wives tale I know but it worked for us and was one of the only things that stopped us being admitted to have a drip put in. Of course when he got better I had to drink the rest of the cordial myself ;-)
Poor little man has gone downhill again, thrown up 3 times this morning and just wants to sleep, which is not him at all. We are off to the dr in an hour as I'm really worried he's slept for close to 2 days straight minus a couple of wake ups, neither of my boys are like that when they're sick ever![]()
It's also worth making EBM ice blocks. He'll take it slower which will give his tummy time to cope. Also get some probiotics into him. Inner health makes kid powder but as he's over 12 months you can break a capsule into cows milk and he can take that fine. Try to not give him larger amounts of anything. Even sucking on a wet flannel for hydration is better than a gulp of liquid as when it hits the stomach it spasms and with every vomit it causes more vomit. I would say if its this prolonged he probably has the rotavirus.
Oh poor thing! The gastro we have is particularly nasty too! Not only DS2 but DS1 and myself have it, and possibly DS3 who is only 7 weeks old (it hard to tell with DS3 as he has reflux normally). Seems DH and DD have avoided it for now....
Jaycee I hope your little dude is better soon.
The bug we've had comes back too hun, MIL and FIL are on their second cycle of it. Hope the doc has some suggestions.
