    What shoudl I do...

***The title should read "What should I Do"****

So I have started again today with trying to TT DD who has just turned 3. We tried a few months ago to complete failure so thought we would wait until after our family holiday and some nice weather.

So the next 4 days are going to be sunny, so this morning we had the discussion about wearing "special learning knickers" to learn how to do wee's and poo's on the potty and then when she knows how to use the potty then she can wear "big girl knickers". We have told her that big girls who go to school don't wear nappies during the day time, so before she starts "school" (ie: 3yr kinder) she needs to be big and wear knickers.

So on go the training pants this morning, first accident probably 30mins later. So clean pants on and then she goes into her bedroom and comes back with a nappy as tells us "I don't want to wear knickers and go to school. I want to wear a nappy".

So should we keep persevering with training as she has already told us she wants to wear a nappy. She has had 2 accidents so far today, the first she told us she had wet her knickers and the second didn't even acknowledge she had wet herself and when we asked her she told us "No" even though she was obviously wet.

Apart from the TT, she is very smart and has no issues what so ever with being able to communicate. But she is a very determined child who likes to do things because she wants to do it, not because we would like her to...

    Very frustrating....

Personally, for me, I would wait until SHE wants to do it. I spent EIGHT months toilet training my DD and it took that long, plain and simple, because she wasn't ready. Everyone around me kept telling me she wasn't ready, but I ignored them because I was going to be great and get her to do it. Seemed as though she should be able to because she could talk and so many of her friends the same age had been toilet trained for months if not close to a year.

I tried every single suggestion, we went 14 (yes FOURTEEN) weeks with no nappies during the day, and not once did she go to the toilet of her own accord.

I know it's frustrating, but she will get there!

I'm not an expert lol but I probably wouldn't say or associate her going to 3 year old kinder to toilet training as if she doesn't want to be a 'big girl' then she will just keep on weeing in her pants. Maybe a rewards chart? Or something instead.

We have a sticker chart and she knows about how she gets a sticker if she uses the potty. So far the only success has been when she is having her day with her grandparents when she has used the potty twice, but at home she refuses to use the potty or toilet. I think it might be about 'power' and her wanting to be in control of when she wants to TT.
