Food protein induced enterocolitis (FPIES) - anyone's child have this?

Does anyone have any info on children with FPIES? My son possibly has this, as severe, forceful, projectile vomiting after eating rice and pear.

Hi Razzberry, I don't have any info on FPIES, but our paediatrician has just told us that she suspects our 9 month old son has this. He also vomits violently about 2-3 hours after food. We are trying to determine what foods are the problem. So far we suspect pumpkin and rice, but he is on a restricted diet at the moment and we are adding a few different foods every couple of weeks. Just waiting to see the paediatric allergist. Would be interested to know how your son is doing and what course of action the drs recommend.

Hi, we think it's just rice now not pear but possibly sweet potato but am yet to try it again. The rice cereal causes massive vomits and then he falls asleep so the paed told me to not give him any rice. We were supposed to have an appoint with him a week later but his secretary called and cancelled as something came up and he's not back till jan! A bit annoyed as it would be good to get his opinion on things! Anyway I gave him a ruce risk the other day to see how he reacted and he didn't vomit but came out with eczema all over his face so whether it's fpies or just intolerances I'm not sure. However I will leave it awhile before trying anything with rice again!

If it turns out to be fpies, I have a friend that I can put you in touch with. She has a two year old daughter with it and is very educated on it.
