    Point and Shoot

So, I already own a Digital SLR which I love. The issue is that I cant just throw it in my bag and away we go to the park, pool, beach etc. Although the DSLR is well insured, its just not practical for taking to everyday places and my lovely camera phone is just that, a camera phone with the quality picture taking of a camera phone.

Im after suggestions, Im not particularly wanting to spend a lot of money. Simply because I have the DSLR for those times when I want to take a more quality picture at an event etc. Im just after a basic camera that will take a decent printable picture and it can be thrown in my bag and forgotten about essentially.

So... what do you have? What do you love and hate about it? And importantly, how much did you pay for it?

    Thanks muchly.

We have a basic Canon IXUS 70, which we've had for several years now. I really can't remember how much we paid for it, but we really like it.
The one function that we love best is a setting which DH uses and you hold your finger down and it takes consecutive photos - great for action shots. Just a pain having to go through and delete all of the ones that you don't need.

Target have Canon Powershots for like $80 right now, they're pretty decent for point and shoots. In thinking of picking one up for similar reasons, we have a great DSLR and camera phone, but an inbetweener would be nice.

I've got a little Canon Ixus 70 and it's great. Highly recommend it.

I paid around $300-$400 for my Ixus about 5 years ago. They're probably loads cheaper now

it can be thrown in my bag and forgotten about essentially.
And then when you remember to fish it out the battery will be flat
My advice? Buy a bigger bag. those candid shots are often the best and need to be good quality imo.

We have an Ixus as well. It was $$$ a few years ago, but are much cheaper now. We also have a DSLR but there is no way we can take it everywhere, so the Ixus fills the gap between the DSLR and the iPhone perfectly.

I have a Nikkon, bought it a couple of weeks ago, cost me $68, bought a 32gig SD card. Took it to Hawaii with me and it took pretty good pics, good options for photos (as in landscape etc).

Another Canon IXUS fan here. Mine is about 4 years old and paid around the $600 mark , it did however have a larger zoom ranger than the others as well which made it more expensive compared to others with the same MP range

My advice - get a waterproof, shockproof jobby. I love our underwater photos from summer holidays with the family and if it really will be in your bag 24/7 it will get a bit of a bashing.
