Hand Foot Mouth sibling and daycare

Looks like DS has Hand foot mouth, DD has had it (when she just started child care just like DS) I know he won't be able to go to daycare on Monday but am assuming she is ok to go as should be immune and therefore wont get it so can't pass on? Is this correct?

as long as she isn't showing symptoms, then she is fine to go.

I asked a similar question of my daycare earlier this year when there was a measles outbreak, and DS had some suspicious spots.

Re: Hand Foot Mouth sibling and daycare

Thanks for the reply fingers crossed she doesn't get it again (I hear some people can) he is pretty good just the ulcers in his mouth and spot or two on bum and slightly whiney. If I hadn't caught sight of his tongue on tram I would have just put all his hands in his mouth and spotty bum down to teething as is getting his first molars - I am not surprised is easily spread if he had been my first never would have known. DD had had a couple of days before doctor picked it - either I am useless or the kids are hardy.

You can get it more than once. I have seen heaps of kids with repeat bouts. It is a bugger of a thing!

Check your DD over before you go, make sure you tell the daycare, and see if you can make it a short day.

Yes she can go if no signs and symptoms.

They will call you to pick her up if she gets any.

And yes they can get it a few times.

Hope rest of you dodge it a friends DH was very unwell with it himself.

Glad I found my old thread - DS has it again (not sure if it was it last time) but definitely is this time can see blisters on hands. There was a sign at daycare saying they had had case. DD all good so far - hope she continues to be in the clear.
