My 4 week old Just won't sleep tonight. I wonder if she wants to cluster feeds. DD is breastfed and also gets formula too( due to low supply).
Do babies who are bottle fed cluster feed too?
As for cluster feeding, well I don't see why not hun? I don't have a great deal of experience with ABM but I have heard they put thickeners in to help make baby's tummy feel fuller for longer so it might not be about the milk but more about comfort? Does she seem to want milk? It can be hard to tell as often it is easier for them to feed from the bottle so if you offer it she will likely take it...
Cluster feeding is as much about filling tummies for hopefully a bigger sleep (except DS2 doesn't do the big sleep!) as it is about comfort at the end of a big day. You could try just cuddles or sucking your finger if you want?
Maybe check with your LC - would frequent small feeds be helpful in your situation? I'm not 100% sure sorry hun.
Thanks hon. I ended up having a bath with her and bfing in the bath and then again lying in bed. We got to sleep at 1.30 so today I'm pretty shattered and banning myself from driving until i have some more sleep. Hopefully after this feed we'll both have a good sleep.
It's hard work!
The cluster feeding is as much about comfort and reassurance as it is about food. Sometimes, I think it has very little do with the milk, actually! Hope you get a bit of rest today
I found mine fed more often when they were hitting a growth spurt and needed more milk. It is one way for them to stimulate your milk supply. When bubs has a sleep today try to grab one as well. It can be hell when you are so tired xxx
