    Parasites

    Hi all,

Just wondering if you give your kids worming medication every so often, or only when there are symptoms?

Thank you! What age can you start using them from?

Can't remember, not too young though I don't think. Best to discuss it with your pharmacist.

I haven't had cause to use them very often, but will give them to DD1 about once a year JIC.

I spoke to the Womens and Childrens Hospital the other day about taking combamtrim (?sp) while breastfeeding, they said that a)they have no problem with breastfeeding mothers taking at as only about 10% of the drug enters the bllood stream as it works in the gut and b) they reccomend dosing children over 6 months if they have a visible infestation (yes she said infestation)

The sales person at the chemist said not to take while breastfeeding and not for children under two! I wouldnt give it prophylactically to a child under two but would see a the gp if I was concerened

Symptoms are itching, especially nocturnally and irritability can be another symptom. We tend to use the chocolate squares and do it about once every 6 months,n ormally because I keep seeing the kids scratching themselves! Mum and Dad take the choc sqaures too as if the kids have them chances are we do too
