    Christmas Books

We have a number of childrens books relating to Christmas and I tend to leave them on the bookshelf but was thinking about packing them away with the tree this year and only bringing them out in the festive season

Do you have special Christmas books that you only get out around Christmas?

What are your favourite childrens christmas books?

We are not religious but do celebrate Christmas. The girls current favourites are my 30 year old copy of 'The Night Before Christmas' and a humorus new one they were given last year 'THe Twelve Dogs of Christmas'

That's what I do. Put them away with the tree, I mean. I have more than there are days in December lol.

the 'Aussie ones are favourites with DS, an DD1 loves the nativity story.
We got one last year called Santa needs a wee!! Both of them loved that.

The only Christmas book I like is The Grinch. Except the ending. I'm thinking of ripping the last couple of pages out of the book.

Yes! We have a whole Christmas collection. It comes out when the tree comes out (ie start of December) and is packed away again after New Year.

    Some favorites:
    The Jolly Christmas Postman
    Wombat Divine (by Mem Fox)
Jan Brett's Christmas Treasure (I *adore* this book, it has elves, reindeer, hedgehogs, trolls, and lots of snow!)

We've also got a few old-school "treasuries" of varying quality - some of them are terrible old ones from the 1970s but the kids get a kick out them anyway. I would love to get copies of Father Christmas and The Snowman by Raymond Briggs but as a child I always found them to be a bit sad, so will save for when DD2 is a bit older.

This year's purchase (which hasn't yet had it's grand unveiling) is Stick Man by Julia Donaldson (of Gruffalo fame). It's not really a Christmas book but S.C. makes an appearance so that'll do. LOL.

    We have:

'What can you see on Christmas night?'
    'The Very First Christmas'
'The Animals Christmas Eve' (Little Golden Book)
'The Christmas Story' (Little Golden Book)
    'The Nutcracker'
A set of 3 little board books: 'The Shepheards', 'The Wise Men', and 'The Innkeeper'.
'My Special Christmas Adventure' (a personalised book they got from someone)
    'How the Grinch stole Christmas'
    'The Night Before Christmas'
    'Christmas Surprise'
    'Little Miss Christmas'

I get some more each year and they get them in some of the days of the Advent Calendar. This year our new ones will be:

'A wish to be a Christmas Tree'
    'On Angel Wings'
    'Slinki Malinki's Christmas Crackers'
    'The tale of three trees'
    'The song of the stars'
    'Christmas Night, Fair and Bright'
    'The Camel who found Christmas'

LOL, that's a lot! Can't wait to start reading them!
