Does anyone know what happens if you enrol your kids in a private school, get accepted, then decide to send them public instead? Does it put a black mark on your name if you try to enrol them again later? Like well you said no that time, so we won't offer a place again? Can you defer to a later start date?
I'm tossing up between sending DS to a private school or a public school. The private school seems fantastic. But the public school has the advantages of being a five minute walk from home, much cheaper and still has an excellent reputation. But when I rang to ask if we could go see someone about having a look around etc, they put us until next year. So I don't know if the feel is right. If it isn't, it might be too late to enrol DS at the private school (which have seen and loved) for prep in 2014. The main reasons for choosing the private school would be just that it feels right, has an excellent rep the staff appeared passionate and the students were happy. I'm worried that if we enrol DS in prep at the private school, he might not get in for grade 7.
If he not going to start prep until 2014 then that will be the reason you were asked to wait until next year.
This time of year is really hectic at schools.
Many of the senior staff are trying to teach, sort out year level structures, do, read and proof read reports along with all the other things that need to be done by the end of the year.
If you have paid a deposit for the private school then you might lose it. Depending on how popular the school is next year should be fine to enroll him
Nothing I hope Rowellan. We got accepted for DD1 2 years ago now for Transition (your Prep). In the end we decided to keep her at preschool for a further 12 months and then chose the local primary school as I just didn't feel the private school was right for us. If we are still here for high school however, I will need a spot there.
