How do you entertain your 1yo?

Ds is 1 next month but isn't as interested in just playing with toys ATM Iand is getting harder to entertain.

Our routine so far is wakeup at 6am watch tellie and he plays in playpen have breakky and bottle out of pen for mum and ds time on floor playing off for nap at 8-10 am then we either go to pool to swim/ beach for sand and swim/ play date with another same age lunch, nap at 1-3pm daddy gets home play pen while I make dinner and do the arvo routines , I don't feel like I give him enough love and attention

Ds enjoyed playing with colored shaving cream on tray at mothers group yesterday

What other things do you do to have fun with bubba? Or keep them entertained?

Coming into summer water in a tub with some small containers
Small containers in general make great play toys
    Crayons, wooden blocks, storytime,

What does he do while he's in the pen? What sorts of things do you do with him, during the time on the floor you mentioned?

    My DS loved/loves:
    Bubbles
    Reading books
Block towers that he can knock down
    Scribbling on paper with crayons
    Ride on Car
    Throwing balls
Balloons - they are still a hit, and were the toy of choice for entertainment in hotel rooms on our recent overseas holiday

We got a cat when DD was around 18 months old, may even older and that kept/keeps her well entertained

What about some blocks? I used to sit down and play blocks with DD and reading books and singing songs. Going for walks is good too.

Sahbear- in his pen I rotate toys but mainly things like blocks and stacking cups a pig u put coins in and makes noise a piano that sort of thing
    - on the floor he has a walker he likes to push around but he is mainly interested in getting into and destroying things so it can be annoying

He isn't at all interested in balloons or books
He loves music and being active

If he likes being active, what about an obstacle course. Set up cushions and kiddie steps or small boxes around the living room and let him practice climbing.

my DS loves watching our dogs lol.

but he also plays in the sandpit at daycare, finger painting, opening boxes, bubbles, singing, clapping
he has a card board box at home we keep his stacking cups in and he likes to take them in and out of that. he also has a old mobile phone he lieks to play with. He loves bouncing balls and us bouncing them around him.

I think at this age anything in the "destruction" catagory is always fun! lol he tends to pull all the dvds off the shelf and throw them around the place. he also likes pulling off the paper of our coffee table and then picking them all up and putting them back on the table.. and repeat lol

lol i cant wait to hear other suggestions cuz id love to have new things for DS to do.

I have a large plastic container that I put things in and DS2 loves pulling them out, playing with them and putting them back in. Sometimes he empties everything out and climbs in and sits in it (he's 14 1/2 months). I change what's in the box every few days, just fill it with a few toys, some plastic things from the kitchen, empty cardboard boxes etc. I keep it out of everyday reach so it's a bit of a novelty and often give it to him when I'm cooking dinner

Re: How do you entertain your 1yo?

My DS is 17mo but think they still like similar things. Things that involve moving and independence.

We have a few different things we do together. We might throw balls to each other, stack cups, play with shape sorter, read books, dance to playschool together, build with his blocks. We also occasionally play chasey around the house or peek a boo.

He loves going outside, so we do that whenever the weather is nice. Out there he has a swing, a cart, garden tools, trucks, mower and broom. He also likes to walk around and explore. And talk/feed our birds, mainly our galah.

I'm up for more ideas though.

I came up with something he liked doing whilst in the bath. I got a bucket of water and added a few drops of food colour. Then tipped it through his bath toys. He loved it.
