    Tired & sick =(

How do you help/settle your little ones when they are sick? My son, 8mths, has had a temp most of the night (was 37.9 this morning) and he's really out of sorts. Last night I let him fall asleep in our bed before putting him back in his cot & this morning I have set up the portacot in the living room so he is close by and his sister can't steal his toys and make him cry (more). He's had panadol, a bottle, he's stripped down to his nappy and under the fan, and I've even given him a wet washer to play with and some ice to suck in a fruit mesh holder thing, but he won't stop crying =(

My little girl had the same thing the last few days but being a big older she would sit still for a cuddle or was happy to lie on the lounge and watch play school.

I want to do what's best for my little guy. I have to try and keep him quiet also cos hubby is sleeping after coming off nightshift today (and we live in a pretty small house). Not sure if I am thinking straight cos in the last 5 days (120hrs) I've only had about 18hrs sleep...

Sorry your little man is sick

Im not much help, but just wanted to say, dont let him get too cold either. If he gets shivery it will make him warmer as the body shivers to produce enrgy and therefore heat when you are cold.
A Luke warm face washer or bath would be enough, it shouldnt be cold.
Also a temperature helps to fight whatever bug hes got so only treat it if its making him uncomfortable or is over a certain point -38.5 I think (you might want to check that, I cant remember).

His body will know what it needs and tell him to rest if he needs to so if hes happy to play Id just leave him.

And lots of fluids, if he'll take it, to help flush it out of his system.

    HTH.

Today is meant to be really hot too, not ideal for a baby with a temp. I second the bath idea if he will tolerate it. like Calluna said though not to cold so he shivers. Sounds like what you have planned for him is nice though, the more rest he can get then the better chance he has if getting well. I hope he feels better soon.
