Yay for a supportive GP! Fingers crossed for your pregnancy, hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
I have read stories about below average GP's that leave people feeling disappointed, hurt or really just like they arent cared for adequately. So I thought I'd write a little rave about my experience today.
I found out on the weekend that I am pregnant again with a hpt - YAY! Very early days still though at only 4+2. Having had a MC just 2 months ago, I live in sheer terror of seeing that blood on the paper again. I'm POAS every morning and desperately watching that line slowly get darker.
The last time I was pregnant, my GP didn't want to do any blood tests as he would leave it to the OB and didnt really want to be much involved.
My OB is rather expensive (as most are no doubt) so I went to my GP today and explained that I think I am pregnant again, but won't be seeing the OB til mid - late December and enquired about a beta hcg count. He surprised me, said it was a great idea and said we'll do one today, and again in 3 days and then again in a week to make sure the numbers are increasing as they should following the recent MC! He told me to relax, stay positive and enjoy each day that I am pregnant. I know that these blood tests wont change anything from happening if it is going to, but I'm praying it can put my mind at ease. But I found him to be very compassionate and supportive and I left feeling positive as though something was indeed happening. Now to eagerly await the results!
Small victories are sometimes the best kind.

That's great. Sounds like a keeper!
so happy for you preggo. so glad you had a great experience with your GP. can't wait for your results!!![]()
I have a beautiful GP too!
She's usually booked out a few weeks in advance, and is generally running 30 minutes behind but for the care and compassion she gives during each visit I would probably wait all day to see her. She was the most amazing support guiding us through our last miscarriage, she never gave up on our pregnancy and did everything she possibly could to see what was going on and this time around she has been equally brilliant. It's almost like she wants it as much for us as we do! It makes such a difference and I'm so appreciative that I've found a good one because I have had THE WORST experiences in the past. A good GP is like gold!!

I too have an awesome GP. Being a country town and only one of the few who deliver babies, she is incredibly sweet and makes time for me. Whilst undergoing IVF I often need procedures done on certain cycle days and would just book me in her lunch hour. Bless her. She was great with my mm/c and arranged my d&c and performed it.
That is so great to hear and great to see that there are still lots of good GP out there.
I had the best GP and was so upset when I moved that he was to far away. I now have another great GP and could not be happier. She is one of those doctors that whenever I am asked who my GP is they all say 'Oh isn't she lovely'.
When you find a good one they are worth the always running late wait I say.
Thanks guys and yes they really are like gold. Glad some of you have excellent gp's too!
M&D2B I will update with the results when I get them![]()
Yay for great GP's! I have for a good one, and after today where he was raved about by 2 different specialists, I feel like I've won lotto!!
Do no let him/her go! Ever. Seriously. You are so lucky.
I live in Brisbane, so not exactly a small town and can not find ONE decent one that bulk bills and that I can get to.
Absolutely ridiculous.
Stalk them if you have to. Lol
Don't give up Calluna! Surely there has to be one decent accessible GP in Brisbane!
I'm in the waiting room at the docs now shakingly awaiting my results.
Ok the blood taken yesterday at 4+2 has hcg at 300. Docs pretty happy with that and so am I, I think. Back for another one on Monday.

Hello again ladies
I got todays test results back at 5+0 and they were 3450. I was expecting something more like 4000? Does this sound ok at this point? I didnt get to see my GP, I just picked them up from the receptionist as I will see him later in the week.
