    Coloxyl

    Hey guys!
I'm extremely frustrated atm! My kittle girl is taking longer than a week to poo (dairy protein allergy). This IS NOT normal for her and it's causing fussy eating, pain, poor sleeping at times etc.
I went n got some coloxyl only to see caramel & milk chocolate flavourings on the ingredients list. all I could get from 2 pharmacists is that it is lactose free specifically and that I 'should' be fine on the dairy front.
I get so frustrated that 1) ppl still confuse dairy & soy allergy with lactose (even medical professionals) 2) I cannot find any info any where online specifically about MILK chocolate flavouring. Yes I know chocolate flavouring can be from cocoa powder n beans etc...but my experience with colours n flavours for my son is that they usually contain soy or dairy!
I wish manufactures had to list every single ingredient!!
    can anyone help?

    Coloxyl

Try osmolax instead its a powder and should be ok, another one we use is lacdo/dupholac but its made from the lactose from milk so may not be any good for you either. Hope you can find something that works, its been a long journey for us.

We dont have any issues with lactose, it's whey & casein....where do you get those ones from? Thanks for the help!

Why don't you try natural things like prunes or prune juice first?

If she's only 3 months old, I'd see a GP first. They aren't recommended for babies that young.

I would take her to a GP just to be sure there is nothing else underlying there, particularly due to her age.

Are you certain its the dairy protein causing it? If so, are you able to avoid it long term to stop this issue happening again (sorry no idea about that particular allergy) or is the constipation likely to become a long term problem because you can't completely avoid the allergy due to her age?

A GP can also go over the pros and cons of long term use and may be able to advise you to something different if needed. There are so many products out there for this type of problem but they all have their benefits and risks that someone should go over with you.

Im not sure if this helps at all but as far as I was aware in Australia the top eight allergens have to be listed on any food products that contain them - Im not sure if this extends to medications.

I hope she feels better soon.

I've had the same probs (dairy allergy and constipation) with my two, though the constipation was once solids started so not so hard to treat (a kiwi fruit a day)!

I'd second a visit to the gp - in everything I've read the allergy usually causes the opposite of constipation. FWIW I was told to use parachoc, not coloxyl.

Hope you solve the problem soon! Xo

Eta I head you about people getting confused between lactose intolerance and dairy protein allergy!

It's dairy free. We checked with the manufacturer.

But I wouldn't use it in a hurry. I'd always give a probiotic first, worked far far better for us than a month of Coloxyl.
