DS had his 18 month chicken pox injection Tuesday. I now notice he has 4 spots on him (one on shoulder, two down his side and one on back) I cant tell if they are CP or just bites. Would he have spots this early?
Also - say that he has - am I then contagious to others?
I just got off the phone to Nurse on call and she thinks its just a reaction to the needle but not acctually CP - but I need to just watch him and make sure no new spots!
One of my twins had a reaction to the measles injection at 12mths, so when he had the chicken pox one 2 weeks ago I was waiting for the spots to come out. So far nothing as yet...
I know with the measles one in about 3% of cases a child will get the rash without actually being contagious (even though it is a live vaccine), but not too sure out Chicken Pox as the infectious part is when the spots start to 'scab;. Fingers crossed it is just a mild reaction and not Chicken Pox.
Ds3 just went through this a couple of months ago, I thought he'd gotten chicken pox too but was just a reaction to the needles (he had alot of spots) all happened within a week or two of his vaccinations.
They didn't scab or anything just disappeared within a day or two of them showing up.
I took him too the chemist and doctors who confirms it was a reaction.
My other two boys never got a reaction to any needle so I was certainly was concerned.
Supposedly a rash can appear after about a month of having the vaccine I read on the print out the chemist gave me to look through.
