I have no idea, I'm sure BG will be in to give you all the smart answers, but I wanted to sneak in and say - Hi there, I've missed your username around! *ninja bellyrub*
DH is planning on going on PPP whilst I stay on carers payment so I can study next year. We were wondering if we can nominate that I get paid the baby bonus as I already get Family tax A & B in my account or if it automatically goes to the person getting parenting payment.
Thanks in advance

Yes it goes to parent with PPP. (I'm receiving it at the moment myself).
PPP doesn't make any difference to who get it - it goes to whoever you nominate on the form (which, if you are in receipt of FTB, i would STRONGLY suggest you be the one to fill out the paperwork from the hospital in your name - it's messy otherwise!)
Yeah I plan on filling it out ASAP for DH to take in. Poor DH just came off Youth Allowance, has to go in to organise his Newstart on Tuesday and DS2 will be born Friday so he'll have to go back in to change to PPP. Centrelink will be sick of him![]()

No doubt hell be sick of being in their too
Can I ask why he isn't claiming ppp for one of the girls? Trying to think. If you are on carer payment for your DS he could still claim ppp for the girls. No need for him to go youth to newstart to ppp. Unless you are getting carer payment for all four kids but I thought it only your ds.

DH isn't on the birth cert for the trio. DS2 will be the first living child of our marriage ITMS
Doesn't matter hun. Step parents can claim ppp. It doesn't have to be a bio child.
Are you serious? I was under the impression he couldn't claim if they weren't bio kids. Thank god DH can call them Monday and get the ball rolling
Thanks BG
baby bonus gets paid to the primary care giver :-) and it's paid in installments not all at once. first pay is $800 and something then you get paid $300 and something fortnightly until you have been paid $5000 (6 months I think it takes all up)
this is not correct - it is paid to the parent that claims it - you don't have to be the primary carer. there are many families in which one parent claims ftb, but the other is the primary care giver of the children (as is the case in my family) - if we were to have another child, it would still be me claiming baby bonus and ftb as it's far simpler for all involved to not mess about and move the family payments from one to another. it is also VERY common in some cultures for the man to be the one receiving the payment and dealing with all financial things, while the woman raises the child/ren. for each additional child, she remains the primary carer, but he claims the baby bonus.
