My little man K obi J ames was born 3.12.12 via elective c-section due to mass (fibroid?) in uterus. We're still in hospital till bubs beefs up a little, was hoping to go home tomorrow but maybe now Saturday. Milk hasn't come in yet, hopefully it kicks in soon
Any other December bubs yet???
Dr had a look at the 'fibroid' while he was in there, they didn't have the special photographic equipment in the theatre at the time so apparently he whipped his I-phone out to take a few happy snaps of my messy uterus
I'm sneaking in to hang out in here even though my little Miss was born 29 November
Congrats on your little man, gorgeous name. How big was he? Any news on your fibroid, will they remove it? Hope you get to go home soon or are home by now.
My little miss C.hloe E.venlyn arrived at 4.05pm on 29.11.12 after AROM because of my threatened preterm labour at 34+4, extensive prelabour and being at 3-4cm dilated for two weeks, reduced movements & bulging waters so Ob was of the opinion at 39 weeks we were getting to better safe than sorry stage.
My milk came in day 4 and seems to have settled, well the big rock hard melons are only occurring when it's feed time and not a constant. So far she seems a very content and laid back baby but time will tell.
Awww OP! I wish. I'm in a very impatient place right now. I'm keeping up my mantra of "43 weeks, 43 weeks..." Can't be feeling overdue when I'm not even at my edd!!
Hi Pheonix, congrats on your lil baby girl! Sounds like you would have had an exhausting stressful few weeks prior to her birth . How much did she weigh? K was 6lb12. I think my milk only came in yesterday (first timer here, I've got no idea!!) K lost more than 10% of his birth weight so the paed told me to top up using formula. It's been a bit emotional, I know my milks being delayed due to the c section but its still not a nice feeling but I've started expressing as well to help and it seems to be doing the trick. We are still in hospital, stitches out tomorrow and hopefully if they are happy with Ks weight gain and his jaundice doesn't get any worse we will be able to go home. They have all been great here but I find it really difficult having so many different midwives with differing opinions on what I should be doing, it does my head in!!! But I guess that just reiterates that you need to do what's best for you and bubs, not what someone else tells you to do. This mothering business ain't easy!!
Basically with the 'fibroid', my doc admitted he really doesn't know what it is!! Which doesn't bother me as I've been told different things about it so I figured no one really knew. He did say it was all mushy like so maybe it's degenerated with the pregnancy but we will keep an eye on it and see what happens!
Even though my little man was born on 30/11/2012 I am hoping like Phoenix that I can hang around with you ladies in here...?
Bella - Sorry to hear you are still in hospy an finding it overwhelming with all the midwives and them telling you all kinds of different things! I was lucky to only have the same midwives looking after me during my stay in hospy. Hope your little man gained back some weight and is over his jaundice now. My DS1 had bad jaundice too and needed to go under the lights and DS2 was a bit jaundiced too this past week and still a bit yellow but is getting better. Hope the fibroid goes away and doesn't cause you any further or future problems.
Hi Phoenix and MotherGoose! If you ladies are all happy to have me stay with you in here I'll pop in a list if our bubs born.
For any other ladies that join the thread and don't know yet, our gorgeous little boy Joshua (Josh) was born on 30 November 2012 (at 38w5d) at 12:39pm, weighing 3.73kg (8lbs 4oz), 50cm tall and head circumference 35cm.
I'm so in love and my heart grows more and more for my boys with each new day!
I didn't realise we already had a thread going, so looks like I've graduated to here now too
Ava Susan was born 6th December at 11:09am by caesarean, due to IUGR, low fluid and breech presentation. She was delivered at 36+6 and weighed 6lb 4oz, 48cm long and 34cm head circumference. Not as small as we expected, but still very petite and dainty!
We have recovered well, I have not needed much in the way of pain relief, and Ava has been an excellent sleeper during the day. Night time is a bit hit and miss! She is a bit disinterested and pulls off the nipple and is a slow sucker but once she gets going she does really well. I had lots of expressed colostrum, so we have been topping up with that. Today she became a bit jaundiced so they are keeping an eye on that too.
Milk isn't in yet... Today is day 3 (c section being day 1), sounds like it normally takes a little longer with a c section? Do you get any clue that it is going to happen soon or does it just happen? I seem to be producing plenty of colostrum and have had some tingling and sharper pains in my nipples but I don't know whether that is because of the nurse from hell rough handling them or not!
So excited to see who will join the list next... We have made a big start to the month already! Hope everyone and their bubbas are well and recovering nicely
Bella - Hope by now you are home and settling into home life with little K. It does get so confusing in hospital because every midwife has different advice. Although I was scared to leave when I had DD1 because I had no idea what I was doing, it really was a relief to get home and find my own groove with things & I"m sure you will be the same. C was 6lb 12.5oz, 80gms smaller than her big sister was but with a much bigger appetite. DD1 was a shocker to try and get to BF and took me three days & many thoughts of formual feeding before she started feeding properly. This little one latched on soon as she came out and is a real b**bie monster.
Pretz - Of course you can hang out in here, if I'm here you should be too How is your little man going? Settling into being a mum to two?
Frog - Was so happy to hear your little girl made it safe and healthy after the last few weeks you have been through. Hope you too are home or close to going home with your precious little bundle. You will know when your milk comes in, they kind of feel all warm & *****ly & rock hard to the point of them aching and being sore to touch. I'm sure you've probably already had this now though
As for us - my little girl is 12 days old already, can time slow down. She had slotted perfectly into our crazy little world and I'm too scared to say it out loud in case I jinx myself but so far she is more placid than her big sister was a newborn. Overnights she averages 3-4 hours between feeds and a couple of nights I was lucky enough with 5 hour stretches. Last night she fed at 10.30, 2.30 & 6.30 which if she keeps up I can more than manage I will go and get her weighed on Thursday to see how far off or whether she is now past her birth weight.
Hope you are all enjoying your newborn snuggles xox
Hi ladies, wondering if I can pop in here? I was due on January 10th but my twins came earlier on the 19th Dec
Eloise Violet Fay 5 pounds 6 oz ( 2432 grams ) and Mason Timothy Aaron 4 pounds 12 oz ( 2166 grams ) and both are utterly gorgeous!!
We had an elective c section at 37 weeks gestation, which has been fabulous. It hasn't given me any trouble at all! I struggled to put on weight through out my pregnancy and am now lighter than what I was pre-pregnancy.
Congrats to you all on the arrival of your little blessings, I look forward to chatting to you all
