    burning tattoo

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I have a tattoo that is 8 years old that has recently started to feel like sunburn. It was done in a proper tattoo parlor with all the right gear and it healed well.

I tried to google and the most helpful thing I came across was either having the tattoo removed, or that it's because I'm about to die *rolls eyes*

    Any insight would be great!

I've never experienced this myself but I wonder if it got burnt in the sun? Often tattoos will burn more easily than other parts of our skin so maybe it's just a bit more sensitive? Other than that I would suggest going to your local tattooist and asking them.

I know right? I was either dying it having a heart attack. I'm 24, And you'd think the other three tattoos would be burning aswell if I was.

Some of the glow in the dark ink has had horrid reactions after years. So Im glad its not that. If it keeps up maybe see a dermo, perhaps something else in the ink

    burning tattoo

    So I called the place that did it. He reckons that purple and red are common colours people all of a sudden have irritations with. He reckons his do it too sometimes and it's natural oO;
    Mines purple. Dammit!

    Re: burning tattoo

The purple in one of mine sometimes raises up and becomes bumps so I guess that's a reaction too

    Hope it stops burning soon

Have you been in chlorine lately? One of mine that I've had for 6 years goes raised and burns when I've been in chlorine.

    Re: burning tattoo

tattoos do burn easier. my first tattoo i got 11yrs ago flares up every now and again. becomes 3d (only way i know how to explain it) and becomes really itchy. no idea why, ive had over tats done at same place, some by the same person. its just black too.
    hope it settles for you.

I used to have real problems with the black / grey wash on my back piece - it got all lumpy and burned like a fresh tat.

I've had it gone over in a colour wash now and that's made a huge difference, not more problems. My tattooist says its a common reaction to the black ink but its not dangerous and won't ruin the tat or cause any problems. Just use a heavy duty moisturizer on it and take an antihistamine to reduce the reaction.

    Re: burning tattoo

I know some ink use to have metal in them. But I doubt many places use those anymore. I suspect its just one of those things.
