    Our poor tenant!

I got a call from the RE today. We have a family in our house, the husband is FIFO, which means the wife is alone more often than not. Apparently about 1am yesterday, while she was bfing the baby, someone came into the house and opened the door to the bedroom she was in. When they saw her they hightailed it outta there - thankfully! - and when she recovered from the shock, she rang the police. The weird thing is, there was no forced entry?!

She asked for slide bolts to be installed on both doors, but we're gonna go one better and get all the locks changed as well. No-one we know has a key, but they haven't been changed while we've been there, so it's entirely possible one of the previous still has a copy. Although, why they'd wanna sneak in at 1am, I don't know.

Thankfully no-one was hurt, and nothing was taken. Scary as all heck for her though, poor thing

Yep, it is terrifying. Poor woman, she will be traumatised for a long time.
I'm glad you are going to have the locks changed for her.

    Our poor tenant!

How scary.. I had a friend have someone in her house in the early hours of this morning. She was also alone with the kids.

    Poor thing. Sounds really scary.

It is really great that you are doing more to make her feel safe. Hope it helps her settle.

This is one reason why I like my dogs. They are only small (maltese cross) so won't attack anyone but make enough noise to alert me to anything. We had someone try and break in when we weren't home. Apparently the dogs went nuts, so much so that that neighbour came over to see if they were OK. He didn't find anything but mentioned it to us and we found the damaged window frame.

Very scary! And you are a great landlord, many (read: none that i've had) probably wouldn't do that.
