    Mucous Plug or Semen?

I've woken up this morning to a decent sized chuck of yellow snot-like mucous.

I've never actually seen a mucous plug before (even doing what I do!).

DP and I had sex yesterday and he came in me.

Is it possible that its semen or could it be my mucous plug?

    TIA!
    xx

I would think it's probably your plug. Semen isn't yellowish or terribly snot like in my experience! Where as with each pg, my plug was exactly like that!

Mine came away for weekS in little bits. I think I remember my doula telling me it regenerates. I wouldn't stress about it unless there were any other concerning symptoms.

*TMI* every time we are intimate and he ejaculates, 24hrs later I lose pieces of plug. this happened all last pregnancy and now this one too. The amount became more as I was further along. The plug regenerates itself so don't be too worried about it. But this reaction is great when you are at the end of your pregnancy and ready to have a baby!!!

Semen dissolves in water. Cervical mucous doesnt.

the plug tends to regenerate. especially if it is just the jelly like stuff and not the bloody show. i started to lose mine around week 34 after some threatened preterm labour. i kept losing bits right up until she was born at 39 weeks.

Yanno I've never heard of the plug being able to regenerate itself until now.

I'm not worried anyways as it could go on for weeks.

My instincts are telling me its not going to be weeks but who knows either.

    Time will tell!

I lost mine at 30 weeks and next day had bub - in an hour. Dd2 I believe I lost bits for weeks and again instantly gave birth no warning. I'd be going on the edge if caution and letting your hospital know. Especially if your under 37 weeks. They may get you in to test as well as offer steroids for bub

I lost bits of mine about a week or so before and then the day before I lost a lot of plug and some was pink stained.

My plan is to just watch and wait. When the contractions start then I will worry.

I am wondering if I should call the hospy and speak to someone considering baby's gestation.

I lost plug from 34 weeks with dd3 she didn't arrive until 37+4, she stayed in the longest! Apparently it's normal to lose plug and that it will regenerate. I also think being my third my cervix was open slightly for most of the third trimester!

Let your midwife know but unless other things are happening I'm sure she will tell you to watch and wait. Good luck with your birth

I'd ring. It's not going to hurt. They might just get you to keep an eye on it at home. Like I said I lost mine then with no warning the next day had bubs (1/2hr of contractions that's it).
