Cutting little boys hair - when did you start

I'm at the stage now where I am contemplating having to start cutting the twins hair. At the moment I am making a trip to the hairdresser every 4 weeks to have their hair cut as it grows so fast, so when I factor in the cost of having 12 - 13 haircuts per year x 2 boys it's around $450 for the year.

We have a pair of clippers which I use to cut DH's hair so I'm now thinking the time has come to get the clippers out for the boys. I would love for them to have proper little boy haircuts but maybe until they are a bit older they will have to have buzz cuts.

So my question is if/when did you start cutting your boys hair yourself and if you used clippers what number did you start with - 2, 3 or 4. We have an old highchair in the shed which I can pull down and use as my cutting chair as it will be a good height plus has the 5 point harness to strap them in to stop escapes from occurring lol .

    TIA

DS1 when he was about 2.
DS2 was my long haired boy so not until he was about 6.

I do it with scissors, but need to learn how to use the buzzer.

DS1's hair grows as fast as mine does, so I have to cut his hair most months. DS2, basically never.
