Attempted break and enter but can't contact RE

Last night there was an attempted break and enter into our house (along with other places in the street that did get broken into). The police came out and the place was fingerprinted.
I have tried to contact the re however i get that stupid telstra home msg voice that says the line is busy then it hangs up. There is no voicemail to set up to leave a message and no number to call if needed.
How dumb is that! If I were an owner and my house was broken into (through no fault of the tenant) then I would want to know ASAP and if I did care about my tenant in any way shape or form, i'd still want to know asap.

Will send them an email and hope they get it soon. In the meantime, we are going to have to be super super vigalent because there is no one working that we can let them know or even have anything replaced (fly screen were broken and attempts to get through the window).

That sounds a bit scary. Don't you have the name of a tradesman you can contact (usually written on the lease?) in the event of an emergency?

There should be a list of emergency tradesmen listed on your lease but an attempted break in may not be regarded as an emergency so you might have to pay for new locks yourself if you call the locksmith.

TBH if there was no major damage to my property I wouldn't regard an attempted break in as a reason for my tenant to contact me urgently. If the attempt to break in failed I would regard the locks as adequate.
