We have hara, which my daughter tolerates well. she's had some horrible rashes on her face with other kinds. I'm not sure if it's an ingredient or preservative in there, or something else
Not sure if its alright for kids but I used to use garnier milk SPF 15 only though, but was moisturizing as well as protecting.
I'm sure there's some good organic ones out.
I've just started using one I got from "abuts" on facebook I'm loving it
Here is the description:
Elly Rose Natural Sunscreen 50g tub SPF 30, $7+ postage. Ingredients- Beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, grapeseed oil, zinc oxide (powdered not mineralised) and a blend of essential oils. Comes unscented or with a slight English Rose scent, please specify which you would prefer.
I'm allergic to sunscreen too, look for a zinc only one. I have one in a blue tube, got it from priceline, I will try to find it for the name only. The zinc is what protects from the sun, but its all the other stuff they add to commercial sunscreen that causes allergies. This rubs in fine also.
Em... What's the name of the moo goo one please? I can't seem to find it in any of the local stores or On their website.
In the latest edition (summer) of Nurture mag they did a detailed article on sunscreens and the issues with some of the ingredients.
The brands they recommended were soleo or wotnot and suggested miessence outdoor balm and invisable zinc junior worth checking out too.
Good luck! I'm also on the hunt for sunscreen.
I'm allergic to all sunscreen, including the hypoallergenic and organic ones, except for zinc. I am actually allergic to the ingredient that makes it sunscreen, if that makes sense.
Zinc is the safest bet and you can get those invisible ones that aren't so thick. The plus side is zinc has the highest SPF anyway.
My DS2 has an allergy to most sunscreens, however I have found one that he doesn't react to, it's a commercial brand (not organic or anything like that) but he doesn't react to it, called Auscreen, you can get it from Big W, woolies etc. Worth a go.
For DS1 (who is allergic to many sunscreens) i use Dermaveen SPF 30. It's not organic.
Downside is many of these products are not water resistant like regular store bought products are. Just bear that in mind - lots of reapplying needed.
Ok couldn't find moogoo, but another friend recommended Hamiltons too. We've had great success with it so far. Problem being dd has to apply it more often than usual, but it's only really for vacation care so not that bad.
