    New washing machine.

Ok so were buying a new washer. We have decided on a top loader. We have narrowed the choice down to a LG and a Samsung. My question is has anyone had either of these brands if so what are your opinions?

MIL has the LG one we like and has had it for a few weeks and i realy like it but the samsung one is on sale so is a bit cheaper but have no experiance with that brand in white goods.

We bought a Samsung less than a year ago and I like it. Haven't had any problems. Only negatives would be that there isn't an agitator in the middle so the clothes get very tangled sometimes, and there isn't a soak option. Otherwise, great machine.

My first machine was a samsung top loader. It died last year and I had it for 7 years (plus before that it belonged to my DH's great aunt who used it in her holiday house for a few years). So it did quite well. I never had any major problems with it (until the end obviously lol!). I was so impressed with it that I bought another Samsung although this time we went for the front loader.

I have the Samsung, without the agitator, and I really like the machine. It doesn't seem t o"need" an agitator. It just washes really well. As for the soak, you can pause at any stage, and I am pretty sure you can also reprogram what it already has for longer washes, etc. The lint filters are at the top of the bowl, and super easy to remove and clean. The downside for me is the silly tune it plays when it is finished! Another upsode, its easy to choose if you just want to rinse / rinse and spin / etc. I would buy it again (this one was a hand me down from the IL's).

With agitator-less washing machines are very good at tangling your clothes and ruining things because of it. I would really think twice before buying one. I have had 1 for years and HATE it.
A front loader is good for saving water and is more gentle on the clothes, but you cant just "pop" something else in.
I would never buy a washer/dryer in 1. I had 1 a few years ago and neither function was very efficient.

I would buy a either a front loader ot a top loader with agitator, as big as you can

I have never noticed my clothes being more tangled in this machine, than our previous which had an agitator.... Is it just me?

We have a Samsung 7.5kg toploader and I love it. It has the safety childlock on it as well.

Not quite gettting the whole "things get tangled without an agitator" ....I always had the reverse problem. I find that the not having the agitator gives you more room for towels, quilts, blankets etc. Also strappy things don't get caught up around the agitator. The whole idea of not having an agitator is so the wash is more gentle on your clothes. No, not just you Netix.

And doesn't that tune seem really really loud when you have finally gotten your little one off to sleep!!

Oh and DS1 has actually helped me program the machine to start later so it finishes in time for me to hang out the clothes when I get home so they aren't sitting wet in the machine all day getting smelly! Clever boy!

I had an LG top loader and it lasted for quite a few years. Never had to call for service either during the time I had it.

Thanks Cass72, I was wondering if I missed something. I was sure that the 'no-agitator' meant a gentler wash, like front loaders, but couldn't remember for sure. And if I'm washing something that could get tangled, I always put it in a bag anyway. The music doesn't bother Mack, he sleeps on me and not much wakes him up then! However, the music has stoped me doing washing late at night. Your DS is very clever!

Preggoeggo; my machine is currently on pause, soaking!
