I've found a list on the Rick Steve's site for packing lists for men and women. They look like a great idea, but I am interested if anyone has used one? Did it work? Did you survive?
Also any idea about packing lists for a one year old. Any ideas of what's worked for you, or what you've packed for overseas travel with a 1 year old?
Packing depends on when you can get to a washing machine. If you have access to one then I pack for a week ot two.
For a one year old maybe three weeks as sometimes you can go through a couple outfits a day.
Clothes/shoes that can interchange are best so you can dress up or down depending on where you go and cuts down unwanted/maybe items.
Roll your clothes instead of laying them flat as this takes up less room and helps with the wrinkles.
Leave a bit of room in your case for the gifts you want to bring back
We took DD overseas for 2 weeks, arriving home on her 1st birthday. We'd arranged for all hotels to have cots or port-a-cots provided (and sent emails double checking this just before we left) so didn't need to take that. We did take a bottom sheet in case of no linen provided (used this once) and her sleeping bag. We were hiring a car and hired a car seat so we didn't take that. We did take a stroller. Clothes wise, we took probably 1-1.5 weeks worth of clothes for her (we washed twice whilst away). We also took some nappies and wipes (about a weeks worth) and then picked up some more whilst away. We took enough formula for the first couple of days so we had enough before going to a shop. We took DDs bottles, cutlery and bowls so we could feed her in our room. We took a few jars of food (although she usually Didn't eat these) so we had some options if the place we went to eat wasn't baby friendly or we couldn't get there in time (we got more food from a supermarket whilst away). We took a few toys (a couple of new ones for the plane trip were great - kept her very interested). Obviously we took things like hat, sunscreen, nappy rash cream, toiletries, ect.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions just ask. If I think of any more important things I'll let you know.
