PCOS - without fertility issues or concerns.

Has anyone been diagnosed with PCOS post children, or without menstruation or fertility issues?

I went to the dr today for a few little things, but one of them was to discuss the issues of a huge increase in the amount of hormonal hair growth on my face, the return of my acne and my increasingly short temper.
I am now being sent for blood tests and ultrasound to assess if I in fact have PCOS.

It never occurred to me before that this may be the background issue for some of my health issues, but I do have all of the symptoms excluding the issues with my period and fertility. Which seems odd that it could be PCOS then as they seem to be fairly core symptoms... My doctor doesn't seem to think so! LOL

So I am just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar position and had this diagnosis post-children?

Obviously that's not my position, but I know of several women in your position. Women who're diagnosed with it when they're not TTC seem to think they don't need to learn any more about it, which is actually a bit wrong - PCOS can cause Insulin Resistance, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, Cardio disease, and Endometrial Cancer, so it's definitely worth learning all you can about it and keeping on top of it before it gets outta control

Limey, they are also symptoms of oestrogen dominance. It's possible to have oestrogen dominance without clear period symptoms and without PCOS. Don't know about the whole spectrum of symptoms involved in PCOS though.

    Ok, so eventually i'm back

I'm not quite the same, in that i was diagnosed before i had children, but i didn't have any troubles conceiving DD, in fact she was somewhat a surprise!

I found that weight is the trigger for my PCOS. my periods become irregular once my weight goes over a certain amount, and it makes other symptoms worse, such as hair loss (head) and excess hair (face, stomach, etc.). they are still there when i lose weight, but to a much lesser extent.

I would often have roughly 6 week cycles, but could go as long as 3 months before AF made an appearance. I had/have awful hormonal hair growth, which is super embarrassing. It was virtually impossible for me to lose weight, but just thinking about food made me put on weight.

I still managed to conceive DD with no worries though, we weren't even planning to have children yet! (though we weren't actively preventing either)

Now having had DD, i have lost about 10-15kg, and my cycles have become textbook, between 28-31 days, ovulating around day 16-19 every time, i still have the excess hair, but its slightly less, and the hair loss has slowed too, i can also lose weight alot easier.

I don't know if this is of any help to you, but i hope it is ox
