We priced items individually with stickers but some come off, so that made it difficult. People will try to negotiate you down anyway, so be open to offers otherwise you may not sell much.

Make sure you have plenty of change.

If selling electrical items, have a powerpoint or extension cord handy so that the purchaser can check that the item works.

Make it clear what time you will be starting the garage sale from and ensure you state no early comers, otherwise people will just rock up (or so we found)

Most people hit the streets early for garage sales, so if you are having people help out, get them there at the start.

I'd probably only have one, maybe two people are most handle the money.

Put items into piles ie: electrical, clothes, toys etc.... so it is somewhat easy for people to see / search.

You can advertise in the local papers but not sure what the cost is and if you advertise on street posts etc.... clearly people often will just drop in when driving past. You can advertise on some websites, like Gumtree I think....

WOW!! that is fantastic. I wouldn't expect to pull that much from just a garage sale. maybe it is worth us having one,

did you end up pricing everything? what type of stuff did you have for sale?

DHs LP records were a hit, lots of random homewares, purses, bags, PS games. We priced everything with white stickers and lowered the prices a lot in the last hour or so to give the stuff the best chance of selling
