    Dry cough

My DD has a dry cough with no other symptoms.
The cough is quite bad, but otherwise she is happy/healthy.
Problem is we are due to start swimming lessons on Tuesday with CC on Wednesday and Thursday.
What can I do to treat this cough? Should I go to the dr?
I'm limiting her from contact with other people as I'm not sure if she's contagious.
This is exhausting as she's feeling fine- so wants to go out and play.
    Any experiences?

If it were me, id probably go get it checked out by a dr just to be on the safe side. But then again, my DD has other respiratory issues.

    Well I forgot to respond.
The DR said she was fine- but now the dry cough is back!
It's probably been back once a week since my original post- must get to a proper DR tomorrow.

I caught a bit of Dr Oz today, and one of his people were promoting a teaspoonful of honey, sprinkled lightly with turmeric, for a cough. Mum always made us a honey and lemon drink. Or was that for a cold? No, I'm sure it was for coughs.

    Dry cough

I don't know if this applies to kids. But I used to get a dry cough and normally didnt think anything abt it. But one winter it just got so ridiculous that I eventually went to the dr. The dr actually gave me an inhaler, not the asthma one. Basically I had some form of allergy like hayfever bordeline being asthmatic. I'm not trying to scare you or make it sound serious. Just thought maybe a different perspective. Hope she feels better.

    Re: Dry cough

Teatree oil in a burner at bed time and morning can help the body.

We use Vicks on chest, back and soles of the feet at night ( for all coughs)

    Manuka honey is fab.
Check out the cough meds at your chemist, some thing to sooth it so she doesn't get a sore chest from coughing.
Dry coughs suck because its just there and not much you can do.

Does she have allergies to anything? A lot of spores around at this time of year. They can play havoc with breathing -like pp said, some times an anti histomine can help.
I have mold allergies and spores do me in at certain times of the year.

I was going to suggest a voporizer or tea tree in an oil burner.

Honey can be really good too.

The best bet would be to try and get her into the Dr again though and just make sure there isn't anything else, the changes in weather we are having are driving my sinuses mad so she might be having a few issues with the weather changing.

    Dry cough

    Thanks ladies!

Have been to the dr today- nothing medically wrong.
Run of the mill infection- no need for AB's.
No cough mixture under 6 years old.
    Can give 2ml of clarantyne.
