Prescription Diet pills?? Anyone have any experience with them?

Just looking to see if anyone has any epxerience with them. I need to lose about 10 - 20kgs. I have always suffered with body image issues and its no different as an adult. I am totally stuck in this cycle and I hate it. I feel down so I eat, i feel guilty because I ate stuff I know isn't right and the only consequence i get is that I feel worse. I know that eating the wrong things whilst having the tablets can have even bigger consquences (mental health etc). But I have also heard that if you eat the wrong things that it makes it go straight through you. In my head (as messed up as the thought is), i need the consequence while i loose the biggest part of this weight. I need my my head to think - oh crap, that makes you feel horrible don't have that again.

I generally go to the gym 3 times a week (although haven't been able to while waiting for surgery - in March).

Has anyone used them? Obviously I would do this with my dr (if he will even consider giving them to me). Just looking for experiences.

EDIT: I have seen the other post re. appetite suppressents (sp), i'm thinking more along the lines of prescription meds, not sure if they are different. Maybe a mod can change the title of mine to distinguish the difference??)

Here's a link on another thread about duromine, if that is the sort of thing you are talking about.

My advice is DON'T DO IT!!!! I haven't done it myself, but a friend was on them and she was crazy on them. They seriously messed with her head and metabolism. She did lose weight, but when she went off them, she gained it all back and then some.

I thought there was one around but I couldn't find it... must have looked straight past it. I will also go and read this.
    Thanks. x

Trust me, there has to be another answer for you. I got duromine a few years ago & although the first week was great I quickly noticed I needed a higher dose to get the same level of energy. As soon as I stopped taking them I went through withdrawals & was seriously thinking about trying to get some illegally (cheaper) so they are very addictive. Plus I put all the weight back on and then some. Maybe talk to a food coach or dietitian? I understand your frustration, I also need to lose 10 to 20kg, I try my best with diet & exercise but it really affects my confidence at times

you could ask your doctor for some xenical. It's nowhere near as harsh on you as duromine and how it works is by stopping your body from absorbing fat, but it also has the downside of stopping you from absorbing vitamins etc from food so you have to be careful that you don't suffer in that regard.

I am another for the anti duromine team. I found that they made me feel a bit depressed, anti social and some nights I wouldn't sleep at all. And I was only on 30s, so not the strongest. It didn't work long term for me.
DP had a similar reaction mentally when he tried them. But because he didn't need to be hungry to eat, they didn't help much in the way of weightloss.
I think the pills that make you poop out the fatty food quite quickly, isn't a prescription drug.
Goodluck, I hope you find something that works for you
